The marching band at John F Kennedy High School has been nominated by Congresswoman Doris Matsui’s Office to play in the National Memorial Day Parade on May 28, 2018, in Washington D.C., where they will have the honor to represent the State of California.
Kennedy is currently one of the few schools in the area to have a marching band and color guard. They have taken first place in several district-wide competitions, leading to the wide recognition of the music department all throughout the community.
The continuing obstacle for the trip lies within the costs. Currently, several fundraisers are being held to help the families of each student pay for the trip. Businesses and corporations from local to national areas are also reaching out to help achieve the goal of $225,000.
Performing in Washington D.C. is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Any contributions made toward the costs will be greatly appreciated. For more information, visit http://www.jfkennedyband.com.
