The John F. Kennedy Cougars Boys Varsity soccer team played their rivals the McClatchy Lions, Monday night at McClatchy
This was their first meeting of the season, the Cougars entered with a 2-2-2 record, while the Lions came with a 4-4 record.
The Cougars and Lions played a close first half, with defensive stops around the goal, but ended with a McClatchy 1-0 lead. The Cougars tied it up 1-1 early in the 2nd half, but the Lions countered with another goal to take the lead and then win the game at 2-1.
Kennedy players felt frustrated with the officiating throughout the game, the line judges and coaches on the Kennedy sideline felt the same way with the officiating, with multiple missed calls, such as 2 missed penalties in the box which would have gone Kennedy’s way, and other bad decisions such as calling fouls that had no reason to go McClatchy’s way
With this loss, the boys varsity record stands at 2-3-2. Looking ahead, the Cougars will have the opportunity to redeem themselves Wednesday vs the Grant Pacers.
