By Andres Luevano, Clarion Sports Editor

For the second time this season the Kennedy Cougars Varsity and Junior Varsity basketball teams played their rivals, McClatchy High School, on the Lions’ home floor.

The Cougars Varsity squad came in with a 7-12 record per Maxprpes.com, while the Lions entered at 11-8. The first quarter was poor for the Cougars, who were behind by 11 at the end. In the second quarter the Cougars had a comeback leading to a 14-8 run to end the half. Kennedy went into the locker room down by only 5, even after a rough 1st quarter.

The 3rd and 4th quarters didn’t go the Cougars way being outscored by a combined 13 points in the 2nd half.

The Cougars lost for a second time to the McClatchy Lions this season, and continued their 8-game losing streak. The previous game at Kennedy didn’t go so well with the Lions winning 68-50.

The Cougars JV team had better luck, once again demolishing the Lions 66-46 earning a record of 14-5, including a 5-game winning streak.
