After the publishing of my very first article last Friday, I heard a lot of positive feedback from my peers and even a suggestion to make a masculine equivalent of my outfit inspiration boards.
This suggestion even went so far as to one of my generous friends, junior Elijah Yang, taking matters into his own hands and making his own vision boards. As the masculine equivalent of my Wizard of Oz inspired homecoming looks, Elijah’s looks include most of the same characters I’d already introduced in my previous article with a few additional characters.
In the same order I introduced my feminine vision boards in, first is masculine DOROTHY !!
In this outfit above, the same key elements of Dorothy’s outfit in the film are visible with the light blue vest, dress pants and tie to represent her dress over the white button up to represent her white socks and of course the signature ruby red shoes. Rather you alternate this outfit to be suited for a warmer climate or a colder climate depends on whether or not you decide to risk the fanciness of the outfit and wear shorts or swap out the mid sleeve button up for a short sleeve one (both alterations shown in the vision board) Super simple, super cute!
P.S: bro is that jungkook on the bottom right ??
Next up is masculine GLINDA !!
The same key elements of Glinda’s classy, royal character are also displayed in this vision board with the princess pink vest, overcoat, and tie all representing her dress complimented by silver jewelry to resemble the sparkles on her dress as well as her silver magic wand. The silver crown shown at the top also resembles Glinda’s tiara but in a more masculine style. The white button-up, pants and shoes compliment the pink and silver nicely and also give a very royal vibe to the outfit. Again, the short sleeve button-up variation for this outfit can be worn more comfortably in hot weather. (also shown in the diagram) Super classy, super chic!
One of the additional characters Elijah added as a character that is better suited for a masculine style is THE COWARDLY LION !!
This stylish look above is exactly what I would have envisioned a lion to look like going to a school dance all the way from the rustic brown color scheme to the layered lion’s mane haircut. The key element of the Cowardly Lion from the Wizard of Oz that is most accurately captured in this vision board is his entirely brown exterior. This is represented by an almost bronze brown vest and overcoat matched with dirt brown dress pants and dark brown dress shoes. All of these shades go beautifully together and are complimented nicely with the gold jewelry and majestic wolf cut-like mullet haircut shown on the bottom right. Super majestic, super unique!
The last additional character added by my genius fashionista friend is THE WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST !!
Originally, I admit I was meant to include Elphaba (the Wicked Witch) and Glinda as a duo outfit look for my original homecoming post but ended up being too lazy and honestly confused to explain the lore behind their enemies to friends to enemies backstory so I just included Glinda only (sorry Elphaba).
Anyways, enough about me, at least someone wasn’t too lazy to include this crucial character and was able to create this sickening yet terrifying outfit. This is by far my favorite look and is even close to inspiring me to make a feminine version but for now just let me break this look down to you.
The key elements of the Wicked Witch in the Wizard of Oz are her long, dark, and scary black cloak, tall and pointy witch hat, and of course her VERY GREEN skin. Elijah expressed these villain characteristics through a spooky dark theme with a black button-up, black dress pants, black shoes, and even a black CAPE (my favorite part). To represent her green skin, he even added an elegant green and black vest over the black button-up that compliments the rest of the outfit very well. The additional mullet on the bottom made this outfit seem like a vampire from a K-drama I swear I’ve seen. Super spooky, super stylish!
Lastly, the final masculinized look Elijah made was inspired by the EMERALD CITY !!
He kept the same elegant and rich look I’d initially made for the feminine version and brought to us this royal look above. With two variations of fancy looking vests both a different shade of green with different hints of color. The left vest is a light sage green shade over a ruffled white button-up with hints of a whiter gold and goes best with the light green dress pants beneath it.The right vest is more of an emerald green with yellow gold accents that pair best with the gold jewelry and emerald green dress shoes displayed below it. Super elegant, super demure!
Overall, I think Elijah did a beautiful job creating these cute outfits and thank him again for taking time out of his day to make them and share them with the rest of our school.
Everyone say thank you Elijah !!
And don’t forget to buy your homecoming tickets, if you haven’t already, at Casey’s Corner after school. The line is pretty hectic though so brace yourself (picture proof below)
