Spring Break has FINALLY arrived and is here to save us all! We have a whole week to rest and enjoy life to its fullest! But the real question is… What are we doing this spring break?

Here’s a few ideas from students and staff here on campus.
Ms. M from the counseling office plans to take an exciting 18 hour train ride to Washington to visit her friends and watch Netflix all night long! Yay!
Counselor Ms. Angela Avelar plans to take it easy and spend lots of time with her kids, husband, and overall family. She also mentioned an exciting day trip out of town to visit family and celebrate Easter.
Freshman Ani’ Mariana Bell also plans to take it easy and spend lots of time with her mom and friend that is coming to visit her.
Assistant English teacher Mr. Baker’s spring break is destined to be one of new beginnings and great spring joy as he and his wife Ms. Wallace will continue moving their belongings into their freshly purchased home!
English teacher Ms. Z also has an exciting camping trip with her family planned.
Super mysterious sophomore Gwen Pal Sternburg plans to sort books all week long as well.
Freshman Jolie Yates also plans to visit family in SoCal in time for Easter.
Super studious senior Violet Trimble doesn’t have anything specific planned for break but intends to rest a lot, spend time with her boyfriend, and apply to more jobs. Good luck!
As you can tell by a majority of these answers around campus, traveling out of town to visit loved ones seems to be a pretty common theme and a great idea to take on next week. Leaving the shackles of Sacramento and getting a refreshing change of scenery is perfect for taking a break from our working worlds.
It is also important to prioritize our mental and physical health by not overloading ourselves with work, plans and socialization when we need time for ourselves. I advise self-care for everyone next week in all sorts of forms like meditating, sleeping in, reading, spending time alone, and being outside in the nice, sunny weather.
Some other specific and local ideas I would suggest consist of…
Shopping for vintage clothes, jewelry, shoes and more at WorldsWorstExpo next sunday (April 27th) from 10AM-6PM in Midtown 20th & K street
Heading to Delta Shores or DOCO to go watch the new Minecraft Movie
WWE RAW on April 14th at the Golden 1 Center (whatever that means)
Baile (@nochesdenostalgiaoficial on instagram) on April 18th on 8434 Bradshaw Road
Meeting the Easter bunny at Tower Theatre on April 12th from 12:30-2:30PM
Eating at the All You Can Eat Taco Bar at Roberta’s on Freeport anytime 5-8PM Tuesday-Friday for $16.99 and a PLETHORA of great food (they are great and at risk of having to close the taco bar due to lack of customers so go check them out!)
Picnic dates with friends, family, or partners at any of the local parks
Day trips to SF or anywhere on the coast with loved ones/alone
Fishing along the Sacramento River if you’re into that (good weather for it)
I wish the best for everyone this spring break and hope you can all balance fun with relaxation in the best ways possible! And Happy Easter to those who celebrate it!!
