On May 27 during third period, John F Kennedy held their annual Wellness Fair at the quad to raise awareness on issues concerning the Sacramento community.
The event is organized for students to find support in a numerous amount of ways. Whether it’s through a career or finding a community with like-minded ideas.
Different organizations were invited to this event where they set up their booths, had games, trinkets, candies and informational pamphlets. Things like this can go a long way because it attracts students to the area where they can then engage in what the booth has to offer.
Wellness Fairs are crucial because it lets students know that there is always support around them and it helps bring that support to them if they don’t know where to find it themselves. This yearly event makes that possible and allows help for a numerous amount of kids each year.
Some booths were even domestically run, meaning the organizers were students and staff directly from campus. These specific booths allow students to feel a sense of familiarity if they are stressed or nervous.
A specific booth would be the culinary cart rsn by senior Ash Johnson, selling delicious churros to students. Food is known to relax people, making the remainder of the event more enjoyable.
One student, Senior Ixchel Romero, assisted in running a booth called BeBothered. This group was more school based and was tied with the on campus student support center.
They offered games and activities, which may harbor a sense of familiarity among students. She believes that what they do is great, and representation always matters.

With this event being revolved around the high school, this would be considered one of the JFK seniors last event. This could spark up some emotions because they would reminisce on each fair throughout the years and what fun that they may have brought to them.
Keyani Crozier, a senior at Kennedy, showed that she had lots of fun at the fair. She went to every booth and got all of the trinkets that they had to offer
“Wellness Fairs are always fun,” Crozier said. “Every year they have good stuff that I can say I enjoyed.”
With this being the last experience for seniors, this is simultaneously the first for freshmen. Freshmen were given the opportunity to experience the community and tables for the very first time, and this could spark some curiosity among them.
Angelise Flagler-Glass, a freshman at Kennedy has experienced her first Wellness Fair at Kennedy, with it being her first.
“For the first time, I really enjoyed it,” Flagler-Glass said. “And I am very excited to see what new things they may have in the upcoming years.”
With her being the elected CO/29 Class Athletics/Spirit cabinet, there is a chance she could be more behind the scenes for the upcoming events.
Allowing this event to be held regularly in years to come is important to students, it allows support, community discoveryand things they may enjoy in general. Helping them with crucial information and knowledge that can be applied later on down the line.
