The Kennedy varsity girls’ soccer team celebrated Senior Night with an impressive 5–2 victory against Cordova, honoring their seniors with a strong team performance and big plays from players at every grade level.
The match began with intensity, and Kennedy quickly took control. Within the first few minutes, senior Sofia Bruce (#11) took possession of the ball passing an through ball to Dulce Cisneros (#6) scoring the open goal.

Bruce continued her dominant performance by scoring two goals before halftime, giving Kennedy a comfortable lead.
Senior Nevaeh Tarver shared when the team felt most confident during the match.
“We felt confident from the beginning,” Tarver said. “But I’d say more confidence came after we scored three goals, securing the game.”
That confidence carried into the second half, where the team continued to work together and keep pressure on Cordova. Bruce again took charge scoring the first goal in the second half, followed by another goal from junior Cali Newman (#19), securing the final score of 5–2.
Effort and teamwork played a major role in the team’s success. Tarver explained how preparation and leadership impacted their performance.
“The effort of the team affects our performance by who is ready to take the lead in their position, knows what they are doing, and shows aggression,” Tarver described.
Grace Hernandez, a senior, and Newman, also agreed, emphasizing the importance of playing together.
“It affected our performance because we play a lot better when we all put in 100% effort and work together as a team,” Newman said. “It positively affected our performance and boosted our confidence, which helped us continue to play,” Hernandez added.
When asked who made the biggest impact on the field, Newman and Hernandez pointed to Bruce’s standout performance.
“Sofia made the biggest impact because she got her hat trick on her senior night and made great plays for the team,” Newman said. Grace Hernandez also agreed.
“Sofie,” Hernandez said. “Because she finished our goals.”
Senior Night added extra meaning to the win, as the team focused on both winning the game and enjoying the moment.
“It meant that we needed to secure the win but also make it a fun night for the seniors,” Newman shared. “It meant that we needed to play our best for our seniors, but also for ourselves,” Hernandez added.
The 5–2 victory against Cordova made Senior Night one to remember for the Kennedy Varsity Girls Soccer team, showing strong leadership from the seniors, solid teamwork, and big moments from players across the roster.
