Students at Kennedy High School kicked off spirit week with a burst of energy and color, ending with a celebration of community movie night, going into Thanksgiving break.
The week kicked off on Monday with “Autumn Leaves”, a day that encouraged students to don the rich colors of fall reds, oranges and yellows. This visually striking theme saw a strong turnout with many students eager to showcase their spirit wear.
The competition between class years for participation was fierce, with the seniors leading the charge, boasting an impressive 164 students dressed in theme. The juniors followed closely with 127 participants, while the freshman had 112 students join in, and the sophomores rounded out the lower ranks with 84 students embracing the fall foliage.
Tuesday’s theme, “Fall Back (in time)”, transported students to different eras, inviting them to dress in retro or Y2K inspiring outfits. This offered fun opportunities for creative expression and a nostalgic trip down memory lane for many.
Once again, the senior class demonstrated their commitment to spirit week, leading the charge with 175 students participating in the nostalgia dress up. The juniors followed with 82 participants, while the freshman saw 69 students get into the retro spirit. The sophomore class concluded the day’s count with 53 students embracing the theme.
The week continued its energetic pace with “Rhyme Without a Reason Day” on Wednesday. This imaginative theme challenges students to pair up or dress in outfits that share a pushing connection, leading to playful and often humorous combinations like “bat and cat” or “doctor and walker.”

The seniors once again showed strong participation, with 119 students engaged in the fun. The sophomores were not far behind, contributing 83 participants. The freshman class had 82 students join in the rhyming festivities, and the junior class rounded out the day with 59 participants.
As the temperature dipped, Thursday embraced the cozy “Sweather Weather” theme, encouraging students to bundle up in their favorite sweaters, creating a warm and comfortable atmosphere across campus.

The Seniors yet once again showed strong participation, with 231 students engaged in the Sweather Weather theme the Freshman were not far behind, contributing 226 participants. The Sophomore class had 205 students join in the cozy festivities, and the Junior class rounded out the day with 201 participants.
The week culminated on Friday with ‘Performative Day“, where students had the chance to embody stereo performers. This final theme allowed for a wide range of creative costumes, from musicians to actors and public speakers providing a dynamic and entertaining close to the spirit to the spirit week festivities.

The Seniors once again led the charge in participation for the Performative day, with 125 students actively involved. The Sophomores showed strong engagement, contributing 109 participants. The freshman class saw 95 students join the activities, and the Junior class rounded out the participation with 71 students.
The competition for class participation was fierce throughout the spirit week events. The Seniors emerged as the overall leader with the highest total participation across all spirit days. They were constantly strong, demonstrating significant engagement. The Freshman also showed solid participation, ranking second overall. Following them were the Juniors, who constantly had a notable number of students who were involved. The Sophomores, while showing participation in each event, recorded the lowest overall total compared to the other classes.
The week’s event not only brought a splash of color and creativity to the school halls but also served as a powerful reminder of the strong sense of community and shared spirit at Kennedy high school.
