After these hot, busy and stressful weeks, we will have one week off from school to cool down and decompress ourselves.
Spring break is meant for students and teachers to be able to recharge mentally after a long couple months of studying and working hard. This gives time for families to go on vacations, travel, take a break, or study.
We asked some students at JFK during lunch about what they will be doing for spring break or what they want to do for spring break if they could do it. There were some pretty interesting answers.
The first person we asked was JFK sophomore Neo Vang.
“For spring break, my family has planned to go to Oregon the whole week to visit family and stay at an uncle’s house,” Vang simply said.
We asked him what he likes about spring break over other holidays and he explained how the sun is out and it’s finally warm.
“Spring break is when the sun is out and it’s hot,” Vang said. “So I get to go swimming with friends and family and I always have a good time swimming.”
When asked where he would want to go for Spring break, Vang states he wants to go to Hawaii.
“If I could go anywhere during spring break,” Vang said. “I would go to Hawaii because the beaches are nice and I would want to go swimming there.”
He plans to go to Hawaii sooner or later with his family because that has always been something on his bucket list. He says that ever since he was little he’s always seen pictures of people going on vacation and that’s what inspired Hawaii to be his dream vacation.
Junior at JFK Sofia Moran plans to go to Los Angeles for her spring break.
“During spring break I plan to go to LA to watch my uncle propose to his girlfriend,” Moran said. “And then Yosemite National park to explore, hike and have a good time.”
When Sofia was asked about the weather, she said it’s pretty nice around this time. “During spring break the weather is usually nice,” Moran. “Hot and sunny, making it feel like summer again. I love swimming and I love tanning so spring break is perfect for me to get my tan in.”
She also says that she has already been to her dream vacation in French Polynesia, but if she had another dream vacation, it would definitely be Colombia like somewhere in Bogota because her boyfriend is Colombian and he loves it so much.
She is basically stating that in the near end future she would love to travel with her boyfriend back to his hometown.
Another person we interviewed was Senior at JFK Alexander Francisco. He explains that he is excited for the break.
“I’ve been needing this break so bad,” Francisco said. “I want to release my stress and have some fun.”
He also explains that he’s happy that the third quarter is ending, but that just means he is 1 more quarter closer to graduation.
“I will definitely miss the memories I had in school,” Francisco said simply.
Alexander was also asked what he will be doing over the break.
“I will be sleeping a lot and even staying up late,” Francisco said. “I plan on going out and making plans with friends.”
He hopes that his plan with his friends makes it out of the group chat and for them to have a good time.
Alexander Francisco also would like to go to Oregon for his break if he could.
“Oregon is beautiful,” he said. “And I want to go visit the nice views that are shown on tiktok.”
Everyone is so excited for spring break and can’t wait. On top of that, since it is the start of fourth quarter when we come back to school from spring break, that means that we are closer to summer break.
Summer break is the ultimate break and the best restart/reset. But for now, people are looking forward to this upcoming spring break and even their family vacations.
