As Kennedy gets prepared for the next football season, expectations are quite mixed from the community as students are desperate for a winning record for the 25-26 season.
The upcoming games for the season include Kennedy @ Center on 8/22, Kennedy @ Galt on 8/29 and Kennedy @ Highlands on 9/5. All of which can still be attended by Kennedy students.
Despite constant losing records from previous years, students feel more optimistic this season as a senior named Jesse Valencia states, “I have hope. I went to one of their little practices. They look like a good squad.” A senior named Jacoby Woods supports Valencia by saying the team looks like a “comeback team.”
A lineman on the school’s varsity team, Jeremiah Christian, was asked about what changes we could see from the team. He states, “I’d probably say professionalism. Last year was just a ton of chaos and lots of confusion. This year, it’s really in order and it’s more in place.”
Although most students at Kennedy feel hope, some instead show some skepticism for this season relating to the team as a whole. A senior named Emiliano Duke explains, “Some people might not do their job on the team and slack off allowing the team to fall back.”
Regarding the team overall, students like Jeremiah Christian feel pretty good this year, stating, “I have high expectations for it [Kennedy’s football team]. Practice has really been motivating and our new coach has just helped us thrive.” Emiliano Duke also shares some hope by saying, “I know that they actually have been trying this year. It seems like they’re doing pretty good. I haven’t heard anything bad about them yet, but we’ll see.”
