The Kennedy Cougars delivered a dominant performance on their home court, securing a clean sweep over Grant High School.
The girls showed their confidence going into the game, having lots of belief in the fact that they would succeed in getting a win in yesterday’s game.
A star player, Gabriela Groft, stated that the team’s overall knowledge going into the game would be a pretty easy opportunity to get the win. As well from previous years easily dominating the court against Grant.
“If we end up thinking the team is too easy,” Gabriela said. “We then end up playing at that level.”
From the first serve into the game to the final point, the team showed strong communication, confidence and control, reflecting into the hard work they have put into all season up until now.
Adrianna Goding, a star player on the Kennedy volleyball team, says their team chemistry is improving as the season goes on.
“Our team chemistry this year has improved significantly compared to last year,” Goding said. “Our gameplay is more systematic and we’re not afraid to voice our feelings to each other.”
Communication was their most desired aspect because it was a main cause of their downfall. Working together to get through it allowed them to come out with a win.
Having their main worry be their communication, during the game they showed how much they have persevered throughout the season exerting their incredible team work, bettering not only themselves but the team as a whole.
Kennedy’s dominance going into the set was strong, using aggressive serves and steady defence, being able to control the tempo and relying on each other.
Arianna Chambers, being a significant player to their success, had led their attack into the game with seven kills, where the Kennedy’s front row consistently were pressuring Grant, attacking them at the net.
Having extended their momentum into the second set, the Cougars were able to take the early lead without feeling worried going into the last set.
With the belief that the game would be over, Grant surprisingly came close in the third set. Creating opportunities for a comeback, having super close rallieas, though cougars kept them in their place to get a clean sweep against Grant.
The victory improved the Cougars record to 7-16, whereas the Pacers dropped to 2-18 on the season.
