After weeks of waiting for a new piano, choir and orchestra teacher, Kennedy finally has hired Ms. Destiny as their teacher.
Ms. Destiny began teaching choir at the age of 12 in her church. As she moved into college, she continued teaching in multiple elementary and high school programs before arriving at Kennedy. She says she can’t wait to begin teaching students in her new class!
When interviewing Ms. Destiny, she sets her aspirations for Kennedy’s Visual & Performing Arts program.
“One thing I plan to do differently,” Destiny says. “I want to bring energy that encourages, motivates and pushes students to grow.”
While she is eager to teach, Ms. Destiny has also expressed some potential challenges. Especially when it comes to teaching in a large classroom as opposed to private one-on-one lessons.
“Teaching piano in a large-group setting is something I haven’t experienced as often as private instruction,” she said. “I truly enjoy teaching piano one-on-one and I’m still gaining confidence and adapting to teaching it in a full classroom setting.”
The Kennedy community is excited to welcome Ms. Destiny to our Arts department here at John F. Kennedy!
