On January 4th Wednesday there was an ICC ( Inter Club Council) meeting in D2 at 3:45pm to 4:30 pm. Most clubs at JFK attended the meeting with a club representative and a club advisor.
At the meeting they discussed events for the JFK students that are coming up this March. In the beginning of March on the 4th during lunch in the quad there will be booths by communities like the Hmong community, Hispanic communities and young black leadership communities. This is a good time to create connections with people in your community and to feel more safe or included.
The goal for this event is for communities to grow and for everyone to come together and work with each other.
There will also be booths for signing up for colleges and scholarships. The next event is big and it is a food fair on March 13th, Friday after school in the quad and during the meeting Mr. Inlay said, “ At the end of the day food fair is all about community and at this day and age people yearn for community.” When getting food waiting in that long line there are a bunch of people around you waiting in line also, so have a good time and get to know people while waiting in line and make new friends.
At the food fair it will be cash only so make sure to bring cash. Based on previous food fairs and the feedback from participants, during this time of year it gets super hot outside so there will be lots of free cold bottles of water in the auditorium. All you have to do is walk up to the auditorium in the quad and there will be an ASB student handing out free cold water bottles so that you can stay cool and hydrated during a hot sunny day.
Next up after the food fair is club rush. Club rush will be held on March 18th, Wednesday. There will be a bunch of clubs with booths set up for people to come and sign up and join their clubs. There will be clubs that are giving away free candies and snacks so stop by and grab something to snack on while learning about their clubs.
Club rush is a great time to connect with communities and gives you opportunities to become more involved. The next event after club rush is a Multicultural rally on March 20, Friday. The rally will be for multiple cultures to show off and represent their cultures and traditions.
