Kennedy Students left campus ten minutes after second period to protest against the Immigration & Customs Enforcement at the California State Capitol.
The students were first greeted by staff as they walked out. They then hopped on the 61 bus which led to the Fruitridge Light Rail Station, directly taking them to the capitol.
The walkout spread throughout social media, including accounts like JFK TV and SCUSD Protests. Clips of the protest were even published by the Sacramento chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America and the Sacramento chapter of the Party of Socialism & Liberation.

The number of students who walked out is still unknown. As reported by the attendance office, almost every class lost ⅓ of their students.
Protestors at the capitol were interviewed about the ICE protests. To ensure the safety and security of students at John F. Kennedy, their names are withheld.
A student cites their reasons for attending the protest against ICE, referencing the killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti.
“F*** ICE,” the student said. “We will never benefit from murder.”
A protestor claims ICE is dividing the nation when he was being interviewed. This time, it was in reference to the various incidents involving children.
“ICE is abolishing this nation,” the protestor said. “And now they’re attacking children.”

Kennedy has been seen to be increasing more in direct action for the 2025-2026 school year, referencing back from the “Everything Protest” which was covered in Oct.
JFK Staff back at home had a small sit in at the auditorium in solidarity with the students at the capitol. APUSH Teacher Elizabeth Johnson backs this up with an interview.
“I’m here [at the quad] in solidarity with my students at Kennedy and to ensure everyone feels welcomed,” Johnson said. “Unfortunately, I am not not allowed to attend the walkout because I have a class to teach. Instead, I’m here to do my part civically.”
